Letting the light in was number one on the agenda. Gone are the ugly holland and vertical blinds, and now the sun can stream in. If you have an outside area connected to your room, maximise it with easy access and plenty of plants.
Another trick is to use the same colours outside as in...and your outside becomes, visually, an extension of the inside.
