Do

• Add colour to small rooms with white trim on the woodwork, to highlight architecture
• Have a system. Use receptacles, like baskets or filing drawers to organise yourself
• Maximise your vertical space with shelves or a bookcase
• Use runners to give your desk a non slip surface and to hide all computer wires
• Cover a normal cork board with your favourite fabric for a really pretty notice board
• Highlight windows and maximise any view with a well placed mirror
• Shout yourself a decent office chair, if you hate the look of them, have your favourite coat hanging on the back to minimise the black
• Use your favourite, heavier things as bookends. I have my gumboots from when I was a baby filled with sand..they work brilliantly

Don't

• Have dark colours on the floor if your ceiling is low
• Have your curtains obstructing any of the window
• Have doorways blocked or inaccessible
• Restrict yourself to an "office" feel
